RA envoy discusses religious ties with U.S. official

On July 25, Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States Lilit Makunts met in Washington with Isaac Six, Senior Adviser for International Religious Freedom at the U.S. Department of State, the Armenian Embassy in the U.S. reported.

During the meeting, the two discussed ways to strengthen ties between the religious communities of Armenia and the United States, as well as broader avenues for enhancing people-to-people relations.

They also touched on developments in Armenia and the wider region, highlighting efforts toward peace in the South Caucasus and the importance of ensuring regional stability.

During a press conference, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded to a question about “liberating the Catholicosate”, saying it would be done “just like Armenia was freed from Serzh Sargsyan in 2018.” He later called for preparations for a “Great Spiritual Gathering” in the central square of Etchmiadzin.
