American-based journalist Alex Raufoghlou reports that on August 8, Washington will host the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. He shared on X that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Ilham Aliyev will be received in the White House. He adds that Baku and Yerevan intend to announce their plan to sign a peace agreement.
“Multiple sources confirm that Azerbaijan and Armenia are ready this week in Washington to declare their intention to sign a peace agreement. My sources say that on Friday U.S. President Donald Trump will receive Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan at the White House,” he wrote.
On March 13, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it had accepted Baku’s proposals on two previously unagreed articles and stated the peace agreement was ready for signing. Armenia was prepared to begin consultations on signing dates and venue. However, Baku introduced new preconditions and stated it was too early to finalize meeting schedules.
