U.S. President Donald Trump will hold separate meetings with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington, ahead of a scheduled trilateral meeting.
According to a statement from the Armenian government, “Prime Minister Pashinyan will have a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington aimed at deepening the Armenia-U.S. strategic partnership.”
American analyst Michael Scott Doran published the meeting schedule on X, stating that Trump will meet with Armenia’s Prime Minister at 2:30 p.m. Washington time on Friday, followed by a meeting with Azerbaijan’s President at 3:20 p.m. An official statement by the U.S. President, delivered in the presence of both leaders, is expected afterward.
A senior White House official, speaking anonymously to the Washington Post, said that the meeting with Trump may include the announcement of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
It remains unclear, however, whether this implies the signing of the peace treaty agreed in March or merely a verbal declaration.
