U.S.-based journalist Alex Raufoglu shared new details on Facebook about the late-evening August 8 U.S.-Armenia-Azerbaijan summit, citing unnamed senior officials.
He wrote that negotiations are expected next week on the “Trump Route” project, which has drawn interest from nine operators.
According to him, U.S. officials outlined the anticipated results of the summit. As previously reported, the centerpiece of the peace agreement is the Trump Route, or TRIPP initiative. Officials confirmed the route will ensure uninterrupted connectivity while respecting Armenia’s sovereignty.
The agreement is being presented as a geopolitical victory for the West.
They said the new route is designed to counter Russian and Iranian influence in the region, providing direct trade and energy links from the South Caucasus to Europe while bypassing those countries.
The administration plans to set up working groups immediately to implement the roadmap details, while talks on the Trump Route will continue next week.
One official noted that nine different operators, including three from the U.S., have expressed interest in the project. They stressed that this is a commercial venture, not a charitable act, aimed at “ensuring peace for future generations.”
On August 8, U.S. President Donald Trump will host Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the White House. Separate meetings will be followed by a trilateral session, during which Trump said the two leaders will officially sign a peace agreement along with other documents.
