U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed praise for Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, calling them “his good friends.” He shared the message on his Truth Social platform.
“It was a great honor for me to be alongside Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as they signed a peace agreement after decades of war and death. They are wonderful people and great leaders. They are now my good friends,” Trump wrote.
On August 8, at the White House, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration summarizing the results of their meeting in Washington. During the same event, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, initialed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
