Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk announced that he will travel to the Armenian capital, Yerevan, next week on a working visit. He added that a possible meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is expected.
“I’m heading to Yerevan next week. The visit was planned in advance during our meeting in Altai. It is connected with the emergence of a normative legal act in Armenia—specifically, a government decision—that, in our view, contradicts the legal framework of the Eurasian Economic Union,” Overchuk said, as reported by RIA Novosti.
He also noted that the visit will involve discussions on “certain nuances” related to the unblocking of transportation and communication links in the South Caucasus.
During the anticipated meeting with Prime Minister Pashinyan, the sides aim to clarify their positions regarding regional integration and cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
In Washington, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and U.S. leaders Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Donald Trump officially agreed to launch the “Trump Route.”
“The route will allow Azerbaijan to reach Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is also forming an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop this corridor, which could be extended up to 99 years, with a promise of another 99-year extension. We expect major infrastructure developments. U.S. companies are eager to enter the region and invest heavily, which will economically benefit all three countries,” Trump said.
