The family of Vigen Euljekjian, who was captured during the 44-day war and is currently held in a Baku prison, has reported that he has been on a hunger strike for 20 days.
His wife, Luciana Minasyan, announced the news in a statement, writes Pastinfo.
“Instead of hearing long-awaited good news about his release, today’s call from Baku revealed that he has been on hunger strike for 20 days. What should have been a moment of hope has turned into unbearable sadness and fear,” she said.
Lebanese-Armenian Vigen Euljekjian moved with his family to Artsakh in 2020 to settle there. On November 10, the day after the signing of the ceasefire agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, he decided to leave his home in Shushi but was abducted by Azerbaijani special forces. According to a report by the Center for Truth and Justice, which investigated the consequences of the 44-day war, Vigen did not take part in hostilities during the war. On June 14, 2021, the Baku Military Court sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
