Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova stressed that Moscow is ready to facilitate discussions within the ‘3+3’ six-party platform:
“We are waiting for active steps from our Azerbaijani and Armenian colleagues to agree as soon as possible on the location and timing of the next meeting of foreign ministers under the ‘3+3’ format. For our part, we reaffirm readiness to support our partners on all agenda items,” Zakharova said, according to RIA Novosti.
The first “3+3” meeting at deputy foreign minister level was held in Moscow in December 2021. The second, and the first at foreign minister level, took place in Tehran in October 2023, followed by a third in Istanbul in October 2024.
The “3+3” platform (Russia, Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia) was proposed in late 2020 by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to foster regional cooperation. Georgia has repeatedly been invited but has so far declined participation.
