Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran supports the establishment of peace between Baku and Yerevan. He made the remarks during his address at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, APA reported.
“Iran supports peace and stability. We believe the future of the region and the world must be built on cooperation, trust, and mutual development. In this context, Iran supports the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
On August 8, a trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was held at the White House, resulting in a joint declaration. In Washington, in the presence of the three leaders, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov initialed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
