During a panel at the European Political Community summit, French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Armenia and Azerbaijan on the initialing of their peace declaration, Radar Armenia reported.
“The signing of the peace declaration between Armenia and Azerbaijan is a major achievement. I congratulate the leaders of both countries. We remain focused on developments in the South Caucasus and the Western Balkans,” Macron said.
Ahead of the summit in Copenhagen, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama joked with Macron, recalling U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks: “Won’t you congratulate me and Aliyev — Trump has ended our ‘conflict’,” Rama quipped.
On August 8, at the White House, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration following their trilateral meeting. On the same day, Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov initialed the agreement “On the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in the presence of the leaders.
