Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed hope that the resolution of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be stable and long-lasting. He made this statement at the Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
He noted that recent progress has led to breakthroughs, according to RIA Novosti.
“I am hopeful that the recent breakthroughs in several conflicts will be long-lasting. Azerbaijan and Armenia have signed a peace agreement. The two-year war in Gaza has stopped. This is just the beginning. But let’s hope it’s a good start,” the Belarusian leader stated.
On August 8, a trilateral meeting was held at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, resulting in a joint declaration on the outcomes of the meeting in Washington.
During the same event, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the U.S., preliminarily signed the "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan."
