Former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, currently imprisoned in Baku on politically motivated charges, held a phone conversation with his eldest son, Davit Vardanyan. Through this call, he conveyed three key messages to the Armenian people, later published on his official Facebook page.
The key messages are:
- Artsakh was, is, and will be.
- Believe in yourselves, as sparks of God, in goodness, and in light.
- A true hero is one who can ignite hope where there is none, who becomes a pillar for others when they have lost faith.
On November 4, Vardanyan also issued a statement marking the 10th anniversary of the Aurora Initiative, announcing his withdrawal from active participation. He expressed deep gratitude to all who believed in the humanitarian vision born in Armenia, trusted him, and supported the project generously. He extended special thanks to Aurora co-founders Noubar Afeyan and Vartan Gregorian.
In September 2023, Azerbaijan’s border guards arrested Ruben Vardanyan, along with former Artsakh Defense Army Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, former Deputy Commander Davit Manukyan, former Foreign Minister Davit Babayan, National Assembly Speaker Davit Ishkhanyan, and former Presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan. The case against Ruben Vardanyan is being investigated under a separate legal proceeding.
