Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Aykhan Hajizade stated that “the issue of returning four enclaves to Azerbaijan remains a constant priority.”
He said that the discussion concerns “three villages in the Gazakh region and the village of Karki in Nakhichevan,” according to APA.
“This matter should be resolved within the framework of the border delimitation commissions,” Hajizade added.
He also described the recent “return of other villages in the Gazakh region as a major diplomatic success for Azerbaijan.”
Earlier, on August 28, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said no Armenian government could ignore the topic of enclaves and exclaves, citing Armenia’s claim to Artsvashen.
As far back as 2024, Baku declared that the return of four exclave villages must be addressed in the Armenia–Azerbaijan border delimitation process. These include Yukhari Askipara and Karki (the Armenian villages of Verin Voskepar and Tigranashen, which are inhabited), as well as the uninhabited villages of Sofulu and Barkhudarly.
