Farhad Mammadov, head of the Centre for South Caucasus Studies in Azerbaijan, has announced that further reciprocal visits between Azerbaijani and Armenian civic representatives are planned. He made the statement during the inaugural forum of Azerbaijani and U.S. think tanks held in Baku.
Mammadov, who was part of a recent Azerbaijani delegation to Yerevan, stated that “in the next six months, we plan to visit the Republic of Armenia several more times,” according to Vesti.az .
He said that the recent trip to Yerevan was just one part of a broader process aimed at establishing regular communication between the two sides.
“Our visit wasn’t a one-time event. Over the next six months, we intend to return to Armenia several times — possibly not only to the capital, but to different regions as well,” he said.
He also added that an Armenian delegation is expected to visit Azerbaijan before the end of the year.
“It will take place soon. The public will be informed in a timely manner about the visit, the course of the discussions, and the outcomes. For us, what matters is not just the fact of the meeting, but the actual results — the topics discussed and the implementation of specific projects,” Mammadov stressed.
At the October 21–22 meeting in Yerevan, representatives of Armenian and Azerbaijani NGOs and expert communities were present. Among them was Dilara Efendiyeva, who in December 2022 took part in the blockade of the Lachin Corridor as part of the so-called Azerbaijani “eco-activists.”
