Azerbaijan calls Aghbend-Kalala bridge key to transit plans

Hikmet Hajiyev, aide to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department, has once again referenced the so-called “Zangezur corridor,” emphasizing the strategic significance of the bridge being built over the Arax River between Aghbend and Kalala.

“Zangezur corridor via the Aghbend–Kalala bridge,” Hajiyev wrote, as reported by APA.

He described the bridge as a key hub connecting major international transport routes: the East–West corridor running from Shanghai to London, the North–South corridor linking the Indian Ocean to the North Sea, and the South–West route connecting the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea.

Previously, Hajiyev stated: “By connecting with Nakhichevan through the Zangezur corridor, we gain new opportunities to access Turkey and global markets via Turkish ports.”
