During a session chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey’s National Security Council (NSC) discussed the current stage of peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, according to Minval.az , citing Turkish media sources.
Council members reportedly addressed issues related to bilateral and regional cooperation in light of the ongoing positive momentum in the normalization process between the two countries.
The NSC reaffirmed Turkey’s "commitment to supporting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, as well as contributing to the region’s development."
The meeting also covered topics such as the “Terror-Free Turkey” initiative, the situation in the Middle East, the Russia–Ukraine war, and other national security matters.
On August 8, a trilateral meeting was held at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, resulting in the signing of a Joint Declaration on the outcome of the Washington talks.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the three leaders, initialed the “Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations Between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
