Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochhorishvili stated that Tbilisi welcomes the ongoing peace efforts and normalization process between Yerevan and Baku, reports Armenpress.
She highlighted the importance of peace in the South Caucasus and noted the United States’ active involvement in facilitating Armenia–Azerbaijan negotiations.
“We observe the United States actively engaging in conflict resolution between Armenia and Azerbaijan in our region. We welcome the current dynamic aimed at normalizing relations between the two countries,” Bochhorishvili said.
She emphasized the region’s urgent need for peace and stability, adding that Georgia could play a key role in the Middle Corridor project, benefiting not just others, but Georgia in particular.
“If our role in the Middle Corridor becomes more significant, that would benefit everyone, especially our own country. We are closely following these developments, and we are not just observers. We are participants,” she stated.
On August 8, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration in Washington. Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers initialed an agreement on peace and the establishment of interstate relations between the two countries.
