Frozen Karabakh conflict suits West, OSCE MG – expert

An expert at German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) believes the world powers to be quite content with current state of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

“Frozen Karabakh conflict suits the West, as well as OSCE Minsk Group member states, with problems in Iran, North Korea, Northern Africa as priority on international agenda,” Alexander Rar said, according to Azeri media.

Commenting on possible renewal of war, the expert remarked, “the West hopes that Azerbaijan won’t follow Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili’s example in South Ossetia issue. As, clearly, Georgia didn’t benefit from the step.”

In conclusion, the expert stressed his strong adherence to peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict, “even in case the problem will be left for future generations to solve.”
