CSTO member states back efforts aiming to promote peace resolution of the Syrian crisis, the statement issued by CSTO on February 24 says.
“The authorized representatives of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation and Republic of Tajikistan of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), voicing their deep concern over the situation in Syria and around it, call for prompt settlement of the crisis in the country by the Syrians, with observance of sovereignty of the Arab Republic of Syria,” the statement of CSTO member-states says according to the embassy of Belarus in Russia.
“In this regard, we consider necessary that violence is promptly stopped in this country, wide political dialogue is launched between the authorities and the opposition without pre-conditions, and political and social-economic reforms are pursued favoring the interests of all Syrian citizens.
We believe that the international community should spare no effort to solve these problems, in strict compliance with the existing norms and principles of the international law basing on the UN Charter.
