Currently in Switzerland on an official visit, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian bestowed the Order of Honor of the Republic of Armenia on former Swiss President Micheline Ane-Marie Calmy-Rey.
According to the Foreign Ministry's press service, the ceremony hosted Swiss officials and politicians, including the mayor of Geneva, as well as representatives of the Armenian community.
While handing out the order, Nalbandian said: “Relations between Switzerland and Armenia have recently hit their top over the past 20 years; first mutual visits of both presidents and opening of the Swiss embassy in Armenia demonstrated this. Dynamical development of the ties is marked by regular meetings on top level, intensity of political dialogue, as well as their quality and depth.
Our mutual efforts aimed at deepening of cooperation have yielded good results, further consolidating the friendship between our people. It is great honor for me to grant you this Order, by direction of the Armenian president, for your huge contribution into the development of ties between our countries,” the Minister said.
